Do You Hear What I Hear? Gender Differences in Vocal Characteristics and Startup Funding

Using role congruity theory and voice analytics, we explore a gender bias explanation for gender differences in venture capital funding of entrepreneurs. Logistic regression and moderation analyses performed on 130 startup pitches found measures of pacing and pausing predictive of funding probability for women but not for men.
