Abstract

The association between stressors and psychopathology has been strongly established, but there is little research into how appraisals of stressors affect symptoms. We demonstrated that uncontrollability and severity appraisals of dependent but not independent stressors predicted internalizing symptoms above stressor frequency in youth, suggesting appraisals as an intervention target.
