Do Leaders and Non-Leaders Have Different Motives at Work?

The current study provides informative evidence that explicit needs for power and achievement differentiate the leaders and non-leaders in China. Implicit affiliation need, explicit achievement need and the discrepancy between implicit and explicit power need, but not position status, play significant roles in joy-at-work.
