Abstract

Construing multiculturalism in abstract (i.e. emphasis on its broad goals) as compared to concrete terms (i.e. emphasis on the specific ways in which the goals can be achieved) led to more positive attitudes towards multiculturalism and increased intention to help immigrants. Intergroup processes (stereotyping, emotions, threat) played a significant role.
