Abstract

Gaming, social competence and peer rejection was measured at ages 6, 8, 10 and 12 . Cross-lagged analyses showed that social competence at age 8 and 10 protected against gaming at ages 10 and 12, respectively. More gaming at age 10 predicted lower social competence at age 12.
