Abstract

We tested how person-culture match in school motivation leads to better school outcomes. We used the PISA 2009 data which sampled 502,261 students from 73 countries. Results of multilevel random-coefficient modeling showed that the relationship between a students’ motivation and achievement was optimized in highly motivated countries.
