Abstract

Kissing can put one at risk to pathogens. We tested the hypothesis that kissing functioned as an honest signal and assessment of commitment due to associated health risks. We primed participants with either commitment uncertainty, negative mate quality assessment, or a control while thinking about their current romantic partner.
