Abstract

We examined conversations that incorporate an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device; specifically speech synthesizers with a keyboard input and joystick input. We found that the gaze pattern of the partner communicating with the user of the AAC device unwittingly communicated their interest in, and their responsibility for, the interaction.
