Abstract
Participants educated by a judge on the infrequency with which the insanity defense is used and is successful were compared to standard rehabilitation and control. Despite having more accurate information, those receiving the augmented education were more likely to render a guilty verdict and had greater confidence in that verdict.
Judgment and Decision Making
