Abstract
What are the memory consequences of exposure to fake news? We asked participants whether they remembered true and fabricated statements from the first 2016 Presidential Debate. Prior exposure to a fabricated statement significantly increased the likelihood of false memories. Surprisingly, conservatives appeared especially likely to fall sway to the suggestion.
