Abstract

Bilinguals have been shown to have advantages in inhibitory control, and subsequently on theory of mind (ToM) and ambiguous-figures tasks. Our study assessed 138 typically developing bilingual children on ToM, inhibition, and an ambiguous-figures task. Findings support that children’s meta-representational understanding underlies ToM and ambiguous-figures understanding – not inhibition.
