Individual Differences in Engagement during Online Language Learning

Abstract

Sustaining engagement during online learning over extended periods of time can be difficult. The current study examined starting language proficiency, learning goals, motivation, language anxiety, and self-efficacy for 30,000+ adult learners engaged in foreign language training for career purposes. Individual differences in engagement are discussed along with proposals for interventions.
