Abstract

Using a sample of 1,216 first-time male offenders, this study examines how adolescents’ general perceptions of police and negative encounters with police impact their crime involvement. The results indicate that negative interactions can change adolescents’ global opinions of police, which in turn leads to more crime involvement.
