Abstract

160 participants recalled three slides (pre, critical, and post) from either an emotional or neutral 35-slide presentation. Contrasting to the non-emotional condition, participants showed enhanced memory for the items in the pre-critical emotional slide; suggesting that emotional arousal during encoding, enhances memory for information preceding the emotional stimulus.
