Abstract

We created the Subjective Inequality Scale (SIS) to measure people’s perception of inequality of outcome, inequality of opportunity, and fairness of inequality. In two samples (N = 1,189), we found that the SIS predicts decreased trust and happiness and increased status anxiety which replicates previous studies using objective inequality indices.
