Abstract

Two experiments (n=117, n=69) were conducted to study how facial emotional expressions affect neutral word priming. The results suggest that 1) smiling faces enhance word priming, 2) the meaning (positive, negative, neutral) of smiling faces can be changed; only the positive meaning enhances word priming. Conclusion: happiness facilitates verbal memory.
