Abstract

Undergraduates (N=200) observed and briefly interacted with a small robotic toy. Participants in the personalized condition (who chose their toy’s color and named it) reported feeling more connection to, liking of, and guilt if harm came to the Hexbug than participants in the control condition (all p < .01).
