Abstract

Emotional intelligence is linked to positive life outcomes. Emotional intelligence is typically studied as a trait that is stable across time and situations. We showed that emotional intelligence also is strongly influenced by specific relationship partners. Partners who evoked emotional intelligence also evoked emotional well-being and were seen as supportive.
