Emotional Trajectories in Collective Memory and Collective Future Thought: Political and Religious Differences

Abstract
Emotional valence of collective memories for America’s origins negatively predict emotional valence for the national future, indicating a strong implicit decadence schema in collective mental time travel. The steepness of this emotional trajectory varies with religious and political affiliation, and is more severe in conservative participants.
