Abstract

Incidental free recall was better for congruent color word associates (e.g., sky appearing in blue) than incongruent color word associates (e.g., sky appearing in green) or neutral items (toy appearing in blue) in both tasks. In the color-naming (i.e., Stroop) task, incongruent items were recalled better than neutral items.
