Exploring 2-Dimesional and 3-Dimesional Haptic Object Recognition in Children

Abstract

This study investigates when children develop the ability to identify an object by touch. Children’s participation was recorded in a museum environment. Findings indicate a strong correlation between touch and visual knowledge in shapes. Statistically significant differences were found across age groups in terms of accuracy.
