Abstract

We examined whether self-rated Consideration, Initiating Structure, Followership, Leader-Member Exchange, and Role Clarity predicted in-role and contextual performance and affective outcomes and whether Cognitive Consonance accounted for incremental variance. Results (N = 250) indicated that Cognitive Consonance increases our understanding of leadership and followership beyond existing measures.
