Abstract

Theories of emotion regulation align with older adults’ general avoidance of negative stimuli. This study examined whether visual attention and adaptive emotion regulation styles impacts mood recovery in a sadness-eliciting scenario. Here, mood recovery correlated with increased fixation to sad content and habitual use of adaptive regulatory strategies.
