Abstract

In this study, we read preschoolers (n=48) two books: one imbued with causally rich information, and one containing minimally-causal, but otherwise descriptive, information. Although ratings revealed equally high levels of enjoyment across book types, when asked to choose, children revealed a significant preference for highly causal over minimally causal books.
