Assessing Information and News Literacy through Civic Online Reasoning

We examined freshmen and senior's ability to differentiate among advertisements, sponsorships, dubious news sources, and legitimate information from credible outlets. Results suggest that the psychology major should focus attention on students' ability to ascertain the veracity of claims they are exposed to, especially those on social media.
