Effects of Anthropomorphizing Animals on Moral Concern and Attitudes Toward Eating Them

Abstract

Participants saw images of animals wearing human clothing before reporting their moral concern for animals and attitudes toward eating meat. There was at best a very small effect of this treatment. In light of these results, we discuss several challenges to changing people’s beliefs about the moral status of animals
