Abstract

Research suggests past adversity may contribute to OCD symptoms through posttraumatic cognitions and stress symptoms. Participants completed questionnaires regarding past adversity, posttraumatic and obsessive cognitions, and symptoms of PTSD and OCD. Results indicated mediation of adversity's effect on "unacceptable thoughts" obsessions by posttraumatic cognitions and stress symptoms. Implications are discussed.
