Abstract
We examined life satisfaction and nine domain-specific satisfaction measures in first-time parents and matched controls in the nationally representative German Socio-Economic Panel. While parents' life satisfaction levels saw a temporary rise primarily reflecting changes in satisfaction with family life, other measures declined without fully recovering five years after birth.
