Abstract

This study investigated the relation between observed maternal caregiving behaviors and change in infant affective distress across the Still-Face Procedure. As expected, infant distress increased across the procedure. Both very low and very high levels of maternal sensitivity during the Still-Face Procedure were associated with smaller increases in infant distress.
