Abstract

While past studies found self-efficacy to be associated with negative emotionality, the mechanism remains unclear. The current study found that adaptive cognitive emotion regulation (CER) strategies did not mediate the relationship between self-efficacy and negative emotionality (i.e. depressive, anxiety and stress symptomatology) and maladaptive CER partially mediated the relationship.
