Non-Experts’ Beliefs about Eyewitness, Police Interview and Expert Testimony: A Survey of College Students

Abstract

We investigated the existing beliefs held by potential eyewitnesses and lay judges concerning the effects of suggestive behavior on testimonies. Our findings suggest that participants have had a heightened awareness to the possibility that their testimonies could be modified due to the nature of relationship between police and lay person.
