Abstract

The efficacy of emotion regulation priming strategies (reappraisal/suppression) on mediating interference during a lateralized emotional Stroop task was assessed. Reappraisal (but not suppression) resulted in less interference from negative words processed by the left hemisphere (compared to the right hemisphere) in females, supporting left hemisphere mediation of reappraisal.
