Abstract
Daly and Wilson (2008) claim that, for evolutionary reasons, stepfathers assault children far more than genetic fathers. We replicated their British study of homicides, and reanalyzed Colombian physical abuse data. The higher rates of violence by stepfathers are explained by confounds (e.g., father's age), not by lack of genetic relatedness.
