Abstract

Negligible participant pool incentives may reduce participant motivation, altering study results. Of several self-report and behavioral measures, only one behavioral measure predicted lack of motivation and survey completion time. Using two items to eliminate unmotivated participants reduced false negatives in group difference analyses and false positives in correlation analyses.
