The Impact of the ‘Dark Triad’ Traits on the Adolescent’s Ability to Form and Maintain Friendships

Abstract

The current experiment studies how Dark Triad personality traits (Machiavellianism, Narcissism, and Psychopathy) affect strategic structuring individuals' social environment regarding friends both opposite and same gender. Surveys consisted of normative questions and budget-allocations tasks. Result suggest that the Dark Triad traits were present in choosing friends/mates for strategic motives.
