Abstract

Emotion regulation is central to relationship satisfaction. We examined how suppression and physical affection relate to marital satisfaction among wives of police officers. Wives’ suppression, and their perceptions of husbands’ suppression at the end of a typical work day predicted lower marital satisfaction, with physical affection showing a positive effect.
