A Cluster Analysis of Micro-System Influences on Children’s Academic Outcomes

Abstract

We examined child profiles in the ECLS-k data based on parent expectations, participation in enrichment activities and per capita income and assessed differences in academic outcomes based on profile membership. Results showed 4 possible cluster profiles with significant differences in academic outcomes. The importance of examining microsystem-level interactions are discussed.
