Abstract

Participants viewed true and false news headlines paired with no warning about the headline’s truth, or a warning presented before, alongside, or after each headline. Later, participants viewed the same headlines and made true/false judgments. Warnings before and alongside headlines were most effective in correcting judgments about fake news headlines.
