Advice to Friends Differs from Should Judgments for an Indulgent Option

Abstract

This study explores decisions for oneself versus advice to a friend for an indulgent option. Results indicated that advice was similar to what participants chose for themselves, which was the indulgent option. However, “should” choices were different from both and reflected greater concern with self-control.
