Cultural Differences in Memory: Asians Show a Weaker Part-List Cueing Effect in Recall Than North Americans

Abstract

We examined cultural differences in the part-set cueing deficit, the finding that participants recall fewer words when they’re provided with a subset of a previously studied list compared to when they are not presented with the subset. We replicated the part-set cueing deficit in the US but not in Singapore.
