Rich Environments, Dull Experiences: How Environment Can Exacerbate the Effect of Constraint on the Experience of Boredom

Boredom can arise when individuals are prevented from engaging with their environment. We hypothesized that the affordances of the environment can exacerbate the this experience. In our study, when asked not to engage with the environment, participants were more bored in a room that afforded the most actions.
