Good to Know You: Effects of Similarity and Disclosure Depth on Interpersonal Liking

Abstract

Research suggests that both interpersonal similarity and the degree to which self-disclosures reflect personal information affect how interpersonal liking. Here, using true experimental manipulation of similarity and disclosure depth, we found that contrary to naturalistic observations, similarity but not disclosure depth predicted liking.
