Abstract

A new generation of haptic feedback devices use gyroscopes to signify events or directional information. Dynamic touch perception research suggests that similar devices could be used to simulate handheld objects with programmable mass distributions. Preliminary data support this approach showing an increase in perceived weight for certain wielding directions.
