Abstract
The experiment (n = 208), including a real-life moral ‘Trolley’ dilemma, using (bogus) electroshocks administered to mice, shows that responses to hypothetical dilemmas are not predictive of real-life decisions, but do predict affective and cognitive aspects of that decision. Moreover, deontological responses are more common in hypothetical versus real-life decisions.
