Abstract

Using an archival data set of 2541 adults, we examined the relationship between socioeconomic background, empathy, empathy-based interpersonal guilt and depression. In line with clinical impressions, we found lower SES was associated with higher rates of survivor guilt, empathic concern for others, and depression.
