A Meta-Analysis of STEM Summer Academic Bridge Programs

Abstract

STEM majors from underrepresented groups drop out of STEM at high rates, a discrepancy that summer STEM bridge programs address. Meta-analysis revealed that bridge program participation was generally associated with higher first-year GPA and first-year retention. Findings are compelling yet tentative given the varied and small number of studies available.
