“With a Little Help from My Friends”: Associations between Ethnic Identity, Social Support and Psychological Wellbeing for Pacific Young People Living in New Zealand

We tested longitudinally the differential effects of social support networks, strength of cultural identity, and self-esteem on depression symptomatology and internalising and externalising behaviour of young Pacific people living in New Zealand. Friends support emerged as a unique predictor of wellbeing, with strength of cultural identity mediating these relations.
