Abstract

The current study examines whether perseverance and self-control differentially influence delinquency and school outcomes. Using data from the Crossroads Study, we found that perseverance and self-control predict self-reported offending, whereas only self-control predicts arrests. We also concluded that perseverance predicts self-reported school grades but neither trait predicted high school graduation.
