Abstract

The present study examines the effects of linguistics on racial bias and memory. Our participants reacted with more emotional intensity when people were classified as White vs. Black rather than light-skinned vs. dark-skinned. Memory for an officer-involved shooting scenario positively correlated with participants’ warmth rating toward Black people.
