Abstract

An experimental examination of self-talk and goal orientation on dedication of time to tasks in a vignette temptation situation revealed participants designated more time to the goal they were oriented toward, and marginally more time to temptation when need self-talk was used. Trait self-control was also predictive of vignette outcomes.
